The main objectives of the project can be summarized as follows:
- To collect representative data of European HRS hydrogen quality, collecting 300 spot samples of both light-duty (700 bar, <60 g/s flow rate) and heavy-duty samples (350 bar, >60 g/s flow rate) from at least 100 HRS in European countries
- To develop an occurrence class representing the EU market and promote the risk assessment (RA) approach that is less costly compared to the prescriptive approach
- To establish an open source database to compile the results from the hydrogen sampling and analysis, to allow for HRS operators to take a RA approach to hydrogen quality assurance.
- To test a network of six hydrogen analysis laboratories in order to certify them at the European level
- To demonstrate the effectiveness of online analysis to guide future research efforts in this area
- To standardize hydrogen quality sampling and analysis

To aid the future research by defining the Occurrence Class of at least four new impurities beyond those listed in EN17124:2022 and ISO21087:2019.
These objectives will contribute in a wider view to the transition to hydrogen-based mobility from fossil fuel vehicles, to develop and demonstrate heavy duty vehicle sampling as well as the implementation of online analysis monitoring. The project will create the first European HRS hydrogen quality database that will be regularly updated. Finally, the project results will allow increasing HRS availability and reducing the cost due to better understanding of the hydrogen quality RA approach and events that cause changes in quality.
